If you're not familiar with Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011, you might simply read the title and instantly presume it's a hunting simulation of some type. You have seen this variety of hunting game in the past, the kind where you pick your hunting rifle, choose the camo, and spend a solid hour attempting to tell the distinction between bear droppings and a lump of dirt. Yet somewhere among taking a shot at a attacking predator in dramatic slow motion and fending off hungry attacking wolves that have evil red eyes, you will know that assumption doesn't truly apply to this game.
This version of Dangerous Hunts 2011 is more accurately viewed as a survival game first of all and as a hunting game in the second place. The story line has the player in the shoes of a hunter named Cole whose search has him going through a variety of hunting areas spread across North America and Africa to deal with animals that have been possessed by evil spirits. One particular level you are shown Cole escaping from an avalanche in the middle of night, making his way across the dark trees and fighting off wild animals trying to eat him while dealing with other dangers, like hidden bear traps and a frozen over river.
Like with prior games in this genre, the player plays Dangerous Hunts 2011 using a unique gun controller equipped with an adjustable telescopic sight and stock, in addition to normal controllers in order to control your range of motion so that the player don't have to play on rails. The red telescopic sight is nice, and entertaining to operate. It can be in fact sorta difficult to see anything through the thing. To use it, you have to press the button labled A which makes the screen viewable through the lens. Sometimes, it is hard to see anything, creating a annoying game.
The new gun controller is equipped with a feature called Hunter Vision. This feature exposes things that are hidden by temporarily rendering the screen a fairly mixed up assortment of reddish colors that can be deciphered by peering through the telescopic sight of the gun like a night vision scope.
For those of you that had the previous version of the gun in which the trigger assembly was located in the front of the gun, this gun is 100% better. The trigger is now located in the rear, and the gun can bre reloaded by a pump located on the front. Additionally, all of the game controlls are customizable (not like the earlier version). The gun is adjustable so even big players are able to retain the stock of the gun in their shoulder while browsing through the rifle scope, making for a realistic experience.
Aside from the previously stated story mode, the game will come with a selection of other modes, along with multiplayer options, such as the Shooting Gallery like some other hunting games. Also, Cabela's Dangerous Hunts overall is quite hard to play. I really enjoyed playing the game and i also like to play hunting games online.
